Along with some recommended reading our collecting guide includes commonly asked questions, a simple glossary of terms and a fantastic new online gallery to help you discover which artists, era or sensibility appeals to you. In it we have grouped prints together by subject matter and genre rather than by names or dates, encouraging you to consider artists that you might not have heard of, alongside some of the best known masters of the medium.
 
Our show at the gallery last year took a similar form, illustrating the many different ways to put together a personal collection of photographs. New collectors are often nervous to take the first step, anxious about making the right choices and sometimes overwhelmed by the range of different artists and types of prints available. If you are new to collecting we aim to help you to find out more; if you are already a seasoned collector then we challenge you to consider some artists and images that might appeal to you visually rather than by name.
